okay, so...i have been spending the last couple hours studying for an anatomy test coming up and i am AMAZED at how our bodies work. seriously. i always knew that the human body is incredible but for some reason it just really hit me today. shrug? all i was doing was reading about bones. yup, bones. i was reading about how a little 16 week old unborn baby first develops a cartilage model of what the future bone will be like. i sound foolish, i know. THEN, as the bone starts to form it's a step by step process. that process, for ONE bone, is so intricate and there are so many details in that ONE process. the human body is amazing and i don't know how there are some people who don't believe in God because of how our bodies work. seriously, only He could've planned and created the way He has. incredible! so...yeah. that's all. the church is true.
next thought....
so, one of my professors just got back from doing humanitarian work in peru. he was telling us a little bit about what he felt as he was there and really focused on the children there. so, this brought me back to the time i spent in ecuador THREE years ago. crazy that it's been THAT long! i seriously almost started crying. i'm such a girl. i miss those kids so darn much. my heart is so happy that i was able to have that experience. my eyes were opened a lot from my time in ecuador and i will NEVER forget how i felt while i was there. here are just a few of my memories...
this is Christian. he equals mogli from the jungle book. he was born in the jungle and was being raised by his grandparents. their hut started on fire and burned Christian's hand really bad, to the point of not being able to use it at all. the grandparents brought him to us in hopes that he'd have a better life at the orphanage. he was able to get surgery to fix his hand but it was extremely painful for him. i spent most of my time at this particular orphanage, working with Christian. he is the HAPPIEST little boy ever. i will never forget his BIG smile and his hugs and kisses. my little mogli. :)
church in ecuador was incredible. i LOVED it! it was so special. i certainly wasn't fluent in spanish at all, so i didn't understand everything, but i did know how i felt and will never forget that feeling. it was while at la iglesia in cuenca, ecuador that i decided to go on a mission. it was this very day...the picture. it was a fast and testimony day and all of these amazing members, of this tiny little branch were bearing the most beautiful and powerful testimonies. there were only 20 or so people in this branch and i remember looking around the room and it hit me so hard. there are SO many people in the world, all over, who don't know how this feels. people who have never felt THIS way before. i knew, right then that i needed to serve a mission. it was made so incredibly clear to me. i am so grateful for that moment. such a small thing but great things were brought to pass because of it. :)
this is mariosol. she is a jewel. she came to the orphanage and just looked and acted so empty. it was so sad to see her like that. she wouldn't even look at us or communicate AT ALL. she was totally abandoned when the police brought her to us and we LOVED her. that's all she needed. love. she began to blossom little by little and by the time we left ecuador, she had light in her eyes. i hope so much that she is happy. what a sweetheart.

santiago! this little boy was always smiling, just like this. all the time! he loved it when we came and i was there when he took his first steps. haha. i sound so cheesy. love him.
i know i'll be able to return to ecuador some day. i hope with all of my heart. i know the Lord is watching over them. i know that. :) amen.
